About KML Technology, Inc.
Established in 1991, KML Technology (KML) is a privately held telecommunications integrator that develops and markets computer-based communications systems, specializing in the public safety industry.
KML’s flagship product, the SmartLineTM E9-1-1 System was created as advanced customer premise equipment for New Jersey’s first enhanced 9-1-1 system. Currently, KML systems are handling millions of 9-1-1 calls daily for 120 PSAPs throughout New Jersey, 40 in Ohio, and a province-wide system covering Nova Scotia, Canada.
In 1998, with extensive landline 9-1-1 and CAD experience in New Jersey, KML built the first wireless Phase II 9-1-1 system in the nation with integrated mapping and CAD. This system was used in the first wireless Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Phase II 9-1-1 field trials in the nation. This trial covered 50 miles of the New Jersey Turnpike and lasted 100 days. The success of this trial set the direction for wireless 9-1-1 in the United States. The New Jersey State Police were an active participant in this trial and the very first wireless 9-1-1 call was made from a New Jersey State Trooper on the New Jersey Turnpike and received on a KML terminal in Gloucester County, New Jersey.
